About KVK

The KVK Anta-Baran came in existence on 1995. It is located on south-eastern border of the state between 24025 and 25025 north latitudes and 76012 and 77026 east longitudes. The total geographical area of the district is 699652 ha and administratively it is divided in to 3 sub-division viz. Baran, Chhabra, and Shahbad. Further, it comprises of 8 tehsils, 7 panchayat samittees and 1207 inhibited villages. The total population of the district is 12, 23,921. The irrigation facilities available in the district are mainly from of canals, tube-wells and wells. The rivers namely Parvati, Kalisindh and Parvan provides important source of canal irrigation. The maximum mean daily temperature ranges from 24.5oC in the month of January & 42.6 oC in May & minimum 10oC in January & 19.7oC in month of May. The predominant soils of the zone has black soils of alluvial origin with clay loam to clay in texture in which some pockets are affected and encountered by ground water salinity.
